SHAKER STYLE CABINETS

Shaker style cabinets are known for their simple yet attractive design. They take inspiration from the furniture crafted by the Shakers, who were renowned carpenters and craftsmen. Shaker cabinets have recessed panel doors with minimal embellishments, and are often made of hardwood, although veneer panels may also be used. Natural finishes or light stains are commonly applied to enhance the wood’s natural beauty. Some Shaker cabinets are even painted with a distressed finish to give them an aged appearance. Since the design is simple, the hardware used is usually concealed. Wooden knobs or handles are popular choices as they complement the understated design. While Mission cabinets are sometimes marketed as Shaker style, they often feature arches and designs that differ from the authentic Shaker style, so the terms are not always interchangeable.
