MILLWORK

Millwork refers to any type of woodworking product that is manufactured in a mill. This can include a variety of products such as doors, trim, molding, flooring, wall paneling, and crown molding. Decorative elements like mantels and door casings may also be considered millwork. Woodworkers may use common materials like pine and oak or select from more exotic woods such as fir, poplar, hickory, and maple. Some manufactured wood products like MDF may also be used for millwork if they are dense enough. Installing millwork is simple and requires only nails, screws, or adhesives. However, because millwork is not always consistent, it’s important for cabinetmakers to ensure that they purchase enough of a single product to complete their project. Additionally, millwork can be cut to standard lengths and can be painted or stained to match any desired aesthetic.
