FURNITURE BOARD
Furniture board, also known as particle board, is a type of engineered wood made from wood chips and resin. It lacks the natural grain pattern of solid wood and is typically covered with a veneer, lacquer, or laminate for a more appealing look. While furniture board is less expensive than plywood, it is not as durable and is prone to splitting and sagging. It may also react to changes in humidity and temperature, causing it to swell or discolor over time. To balance cost and quality, many carpenters opt to use a combination of furniture board and plywood, reserving the former for less visible or weight-bearing parts of cabinets or furniture. Plywood is then used for more functional or visible areas to ensure the durability and longevity of the project.
