EPOXY COATED GUIDE

Epoxy-coated guides are metal guides that have been coated with a special epoxy to prevent noise and abrasion caused by metal-to-metal contact. These guides have become increasingly popular for use as concealed under-mounts. Although similar in appearance to powder coating, epoxy coating is a different process that requires less energy to apply and is therefore more cost-effective.

Epoxy-coated guides have a smooth finish with a slightly rubberized texture due to the resin in the epoxy. Manufacturers can apply epoxy coating to any metal substrate to create a finished look that complements the project’s decor. This coating prevents wear on the moving parts of the guides and effectively dampens the sound of opening and closing drawers. However, it is important to keep epoxy-coated guides out of direct sunlight as exposure to UV rays can cause chalking, which can result in the coating’s rapid deterioration.
