V-GROOVE PANEL

A V-groove is a recessed cut visible on the face of a panel, created by aligning angular beveled edges in opposite directions. This distinctive shape is achieved by using a special cutting tool to edge the boards for a V-groove panel. The panel is made by joining boards together lengthwise with a tongue and groove method, and shims may be used to keep the joints tight. There are faux panels designed to look like V-groove panels, but they can be easily distinguished from true V-groove panels by examining the back of the panel for a seam or identical V-groove. V-groove panels can be single-sided or double-sided, and staining them will result in a darker appearance in the grooved area due to more stain accumulation.
