TOE KICK

A toe kick, also known as a toe space, is the recessed area located at the bottom of a base cabinet. It is a common feature in bathroom vanities and kitchen cabinets, designed to provide greater comfort to homeowners while working on the countertop. The ergonomic design reduces the space required for a person to reach the work surface, thereby minimizing stress on the back and hips. By placing their toes in the recessed area beneath the cabinet doors, homeowners can maintain better balance as they work. Toe kicks can be made of wood, metal, or plastic, and may have holes cut into them to allow for ventilation. Although toe kicks may wear down over time, they are easily replaceable. In addition, custom toe kicks are available for unique or special kitchen designs.
