PLYWOOD

Plywood is a popular manufactured wood material for construction projects, especially for cabinet boxes, which are typically hidden from view. While it may not be the most visually appealing wood, it offers great strength and durability due to its construction process. Plywood is made by bonding together thin sheets of wood veneers, usually 3mm or 1/8-inch thick, using adhesive. It is important to note that the veneers may splinter if cut too quickly.

Plywood is a cost-effective option for kitchen cabinetry without sacrificing quality. It is comparable in strength and durability to natural hardwoods, unlike other manufactured woods such as particleboard. However, some modern cabinet systems, like kerf cabinets, embrace the unfinished appearance of plywood, leaving it unpainted or stained for an industrial appeal.
