PIVOT HINGE

Pivot hinges are aptly named as they rotate on a singular point instead of a pin. Although a knife hinge is a common example of a pivot hinge, there are numerous designs available due to the versatility of the hinge type. Pivot hinges are utilized for a wide range of applications.

Different forms of pivot hinges can be used to create full overlay, partial overlay, and seamless doors. Due to the hinge’s single point rotation, it can be challenging to install them level. Even a slight deviation in the hinge’s position can cause issues with the door’s operation and may cause the hinge to wear out quickly. Pivot hinges are ideal for creating concealed-hinge designs; however, they are more delicate than more advanced hidden hinges like cup hinges. Pivot hinges are often less expensive because of their simple design.
