HARDWOOD

Hardwood is a term used to describe dense and rigid woods, making them more durable than softwoods. Cherry, Oak, Hickory, and Maple are the most commonly used hardwoods for kitchen cabinetry. While there are other hardwoods available, they are less commonly used.

Although it may seem like a good choice, using hardwood for cabinetry also has its drawbacks. Hardwoods are typically more expensive, and customers often choose them for their unique grain pattern and color quality. Hardwood cabinets are usually stained and sealed to highlight their appearance in the space, rather than painted. To reduce costs, some hardwood cabinetry is built using hardwood only for the cabinetry face and cheaper wood for the hidden substrate areas.
