BASEBOARD
A baseboard is a decorative trim that covers the gap between the floor and the bottom of the wall. Its main purpose is to hide the joint between the wall and the floor, but it also helps to protect the walls from damage. Baseboards are commonly made of wood or plastic, with plastic being more common in commercial buildings and wood being more common in residential spaces. They can be nailed or glued to the wall to protect the wall surface from dings and scratches. Baseboards can be painted or stained to match the room’s decor and are especially useful in covering the edges of carpeting or flooring materials. In addition to providing a clean, finished look to a room, baseboards also help to keep debris from accumulating in the gap between the floor and the wall.
